hello guys ho can tel me more about this keris
regards semar |
Definitely a Keris Sundang.
I'm not as familiar with them as I am with Moro kris (which admittedly I'm still not very knowledgable in compared to most here). Interesting that this is an almost Javanese Keris-like pamor blade instead of a more mildly etched steel moro-style kris blade. I find that there's a lot of both in the Keris Sundang Melayu. |
Into the Warung it goes ... ;) :D
|
Hoi Hans,
The Scabbard and hilt looks indeed as a Sundang Malayu . But the pamor and the marangi looks a little javanese... gr, danny |
oke thank you

Dimensions??? :)
|
Another intensely interesting piece!!!
What will we see next?? |
Hullo everybody! :)
Reminds me of Sundangs made by a friend of mine in Kelantan. (Apparently his peers believe he is quite good as a panday, as he has received 'recognition'/'acknowledgement' from them). He sometimes chooses the wood for scabbard cross-pieces or toes which, without closer examination, makes them look like aged ivory. Very nice! Best, |
Still waiting on measurements here... :)
|
Yeah, measurements would be nice.
Definitely not Moro - not any part of it... Amuk, could you please show an example or two of the work of your friend, please? (Possibly in another thread.) Regards, Kai |
Ah, franken-sundang - kill it before it escapes!! :D
|
SOOOOO Semar, can YOU tell us more about this keris. ;)
Such as it's dimensions and where is comes from. Frankly, as Kai Wee has suggested, it reminds me of the sundangs that Brekele posted a while back, but at least he gave us full disclosure on those as being newly made in Jawa. I find it troubling if sundangs like this are going to be presented with no further information if they are indeed newly made and my fear when i first saw the ones that Brekele was putting together with his friend was that it would not be long before these new hybrids were being passed along to collectors as antique and traditional. :( |

the lengte from the piont to the ganja 41 cm I Have buy this keris 10 years ago from A Dutch collector that al that I know aboud this keris |

Hello Semar,

halo sajen I have try but its not possible to get the handel of sorry
semar |
Is the stirrup (baca-baca, asang-asang) there just for show or is it actually attached to the handle?
I think Sajen is wondering if the pesi is round or flat (like a Moro kris would be). :) |
hello David the Baca baca is attached to the handel

It is an interesting mix, although I would agree - not Moro in any respect.
