Bio of George Cameron Stone
Where can I find his biography? I tried to Google him, went to Wikipedia... Nada.
|
There is a 2 page bio written as an introduction, by Donald J LaRocca, at the beginning of the Dover Edition of Stones Glossary published in 1999.

I did not know!
I have an older edition, with a short intro by GCS himself, but no bio. If you have the Dover edition, can you post LaRocca's bio on the Forum? Or e-mail it to me? Will be eternally grateful!!! |
Ditto :)

Sorry I was about to say that there is another page, but my system was running slow so showed only page 1.
Thanks CourseEight for posting this. Regards Stuart |
Fascinating. I always love hearing about people’s day jobs. I wonder how many have read Stone for his zinc work as well as the Glossary. I had fun when I was working on my dissertation and I ran into work by Joseph Needham on shrimp metabolism after I had read some of his stuff on historical Chinese metallurgy.
I still would like to know why there is not more information on Chinese arms in the Glossary. They appear to be well represented in the collection, judging by the illustrations and photos, but there are very few definitions. For example there is nothing under jian or chien but many examples in the figures. Josh |
