For fans of African shields

I think his may be a small supply to geographical determination of shields.
Diameter is 37 cm, it is very stout and stony. It was recently acquired I would say in the place of origin - in Karim Lamido (upper Benue river), near Jalingo, northern part of the Taraba State in (north - eastern) Nigeria. Acc to local people it should be shield from Guruntum tribe. Regards, Martin |
Very nice - it looks a bit like the shields from Ethiopia & Somalia.

A VERY NICE SHIELD, THE CENTER BOSS MAKES ME WONDER IF IT BELONGED TO ONE OF THE AMAZON WARRIOR WOMEN. :D

Yes, I have the same feeling, Vandoo. An it really also evokes some Horn of Africa shields

Yes, it is the same. This shield is not so rare (but from far not as common as Wandala or Kirdi or Fulani style). I saw in Nigeria 4 already. I post this thread as some times this round shield used to be allocated to Sudan. Best regards, Martin
