CHINESE CARRING/FIGHTING POLE
1 Attachment(s)
THESE ITEMS WERE SAID TO BE SHAOLIN CARRING POLES ALSO USED FOR FIGHTING. 19 CENTURY COLLECTED IN THE KHENTII MOUNTAINS IN HONAN WHICH IS A SHAOLIN AREA. THEY ARE 206 CM. LONG WITH 15 CM. LONG IRON TIPS AND WEIGH 2.00 KG AND HAVE A 2 METER SPINNING RADIUS. SAID TO BE USED AGAINST BANDITS OR BEARS. THERE ARE TWO EXAMPLES WITH SOME VARIATION. ITS SOMETHING I HAD NOT SEEN SO THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST. UNFORTUNATELY I CAN ONLY GET ONE OF THE THREE PICTURES TO LOAD  . THE PICTURE IS OF ONE END OF A POLE AND THE OTHER END WOULD BE THE SAME WITH A SHAFT CONNECTING THE TWO.

I can believe it's a yoke of some sort, but it's weird. Question: is there just a straight shaft in the middle, or is there some accommodation for the user's neck and shoulders?

THESE ARE NOT LIKE THE ONES USUALLY SEEN WITH THE YOKE AND THE WIDE POLE AND CURVE. THEY JUST HAVE A STRAIGHT POLE BETWEEN THE TWO ENDS AND WERE DESIGNED TO CARRY BASKETS RATHER THAN BUCKETS OF WATER. I WILL TRY THE PICTURES AGAIN BUT THE SHAFT IS FLAT LIKE THE PART YOU CAN SEE IN THE ONE PICTURE OF THE END. THE PICTURES ARE TOO LARGE AND I HAVE NO SOFTWARE TO RESIZE. THE AUCTIONS HAD ENDED BUT THE ITEMS HAVE NOW BEEN RELISTED SO I WILL NOT DISCUSS FARTHER FOR NOW. PERHAPS A SEARCH WOULD YEILD THE PICTURES.
