COLT Powder Flask (part)
Have alook at this. Barely worth a thread I know, but a strange thing to dig up in the UK!

Quite the contrary!!! Very much worth a thread, anything Colt! As for appearing in the U.K. consider the several years, I think 1853 to about 1856, that Samuel Colt was in London producing his revolvers. These were popular with many British cavalry officers, and I believe there were at least a couple of these present at the famed charge at Balaklava in 1854. These would have been the .36 cal. M1851's. I'm glad to see this posted, and would love to see some of these guns. Thank you for sharing this Gene. It is much appreciated believe me :) All best regards, Jim |

They were indeed shipped all over the world - some across the water, some merely south of the border:

Thank you all :D
Its an eye-opener to hear that Colts were made here (I didn't realise) Revolvers were popular amongst 'gentlemen' in the UK up until WW2, but not 'the usual'. Shame its not the whole flask, I guess this little bit is fairly useless on its own :( |
