New to the forum - Doubts on a sabre

Hello Everyone! this is my first post. I basically collect napoleonic sabers and other militaria objects. I've been offered this saber and I'm having doubts whether this is a theatrical saber or a real 1st empire antique. Could anybody help me on this?

Thanks!
Nick

Hi Nick! and welcome to the forum.
You are collecting in a highly competitive area with Napoleonic weapons, and due to the incredible prices often sought for these items, there is always the potential for fake items. This item however is not intended to deceive, as it is simply a commercially produced commemorative type item recalling this colorful period, and not particularly old.

The Napoleonic period is an incredibly fascinating field of study that draws enthusiasts from every area of collecting. Rather than direct you to books and references you already have, please let us know which ones you are presently using, and we can fill in the open areas.

What types of militaria do you collect?

Its great to have you here, and hope you will find the threads interesting, and will join us in learning together on the many subjects we cover.

All best regards,
Jim
