Hello All,
I have already long this rentjong with this unsual bone handle and scabbard from wood with bone fittings. The blade have many grain from corrosion and seems to be old but by all other I have my doubts that it is original.
Maybe someone from you can help.
Many thank's in advance,
sajen

An old blade in new dress ?
The possibility of a joint failure in the hilt is there for it to be a true 'user' .
Pretty, but not of the same age .......... unless ...

I now know the origin of the ball point pen clip . ;) :D

Hello Rick,
thank's for comment. So you think someone give the blade a "new" using dress some time ago? I get it with heavy corrosion and clean the blade with lemon acid.

Sorry, IMHO an old blade in an new fanatasy dress. :(

Cleaning the blade will not help much.
Often these blades are laminated, but with this heavy pitting it will never become a good looker.

Try the search function on this website for rentjong and/or rencong
There are several nice examples in various threads.
From tourist , to good old "Aceh war period"pieces and even "royal" examples.

Good luck :)

Willem,

thank's for comment. That's what I thought already. The blade is cleaned but the pittings really deep. by the way, i have a nice rentjong. I was unsure if a dress like this maybe common in other region then Aceh.
