Sunday Shibrya.

There was a local militaria and antique arms fair on Sunday last. Always worth going round, sometimes more rewarding than other times. Increasing amounts of WW2 and more recent stuff, including sections of WW2 Tank Track links (which do nothing for me at all), and broken pottery from German dugouts.

What I did come away with was this slightly tatty Shibriya, but at a price I liked. Looking around most of these turn up a bit bashed or worn, and the ones in good condition demand premium prices. I think the "gems" are small garnets, or possibly a coloured quartz. I think the metal sheet is tin plated but over what base I really don't know.

'Gems' are likely red glass. Tin covering wood on the sheath?- bbjw
