This reference is an absolute MUST! as a comprehensive source on the many markings so important in identifying sword blades. Staffan Kinman, who is at the Livrustkammeren in Stockholm, editor of the journal "Varia" and director of the Swedish Arms Society is more than well versed in recognizing markings.

He has taken the venerable compendiums on arms markings such as Gyngell, Lenciewicz; Gardner, Wallace Collection (Mann) and others and compiled them all in a more accessible format. The illustrations are excellent and the concise data perfectly noted, as always serving as key benchmarks for further in depth research as required on particular makers.

Any serious researcher/collector on European edged weapons should have this book! I have used it faithfully since it was published, and its always my first place to look :)
