I found a blade where I could capture a temper line. You also see a darker zone in the lower half of the blade and in the last couple of pictures you can pick up 2 temper lines running towards the tip.

That does look like a quench signature, especially the way it turns up on the blade towards the tip.
Interesting! :D |
Rick, I would love to know how many blades you've got in your collection, and if, possible, may you please post a thread containing pics of all your swords :) pleaaaaaseee...

Thanks for making comment. It looks as though their is a double temper line and even a ghostly shadow of a third. Perhaps done to improve the performance of the tip of the blade? S. Al-Anizi, For me, it is not a quantity issue but rather a quality issue. I really do not have many pieces in my collection. When I first started collecting a real old timer that had been collecting for 70+ years told me to simply buy what I like and enjoy but focus on the best quality I could afford. |
excellent..... ;)
- oil quenched forsure.... or at least a faster quench than air hardening.. very nice Greg Definitely good taste in blades.. !!!! |
