Silver Pedang
 

This Pedang measures 71 cm without the sheath, 58cms out and carries a fine pamor blade that is 54cm long. It was in a very bad, heavily rusted condition as I bought it, not far away from a hopeless case.

After many hours of polishing and a final etching it is almost like a resurrection.
The well carved hilt is of horn construction and also shows circular piercings to both sides. The rest of the hilt is covered with sheet silver with floral decorations.
The scabbard is covered with silver with two suspension rings, one of the rings is lost. Both the upper and lower fittings are finished with a copper ring to the edges.

The blade is of a fine and absolutely flawless forged pamor construction with two fullers. It carries a very sharp edge and a non sharp hollow shaped back edge to the tip.
I think, it is from Lombok and quite old.

like Charles write, very nice example with the two fullers. And very good restore work and very good etching result! :) I've seen the blade before Roland worked on it. ;)
BTW, I am not an expert! ;)

Here my two examples, the bigger one has a simple handle from wood but a very nice laminated blade. The smaller one a nice carved horn handle, the blade is also laminated but still need an etch to show the lamination better.

could be but I would place it a little bit later, around 1900 would be my guess. :)
