graeme, I no longer have my "Isimongo" ? it was not that old in my oppinion.
However I do now have one of these, which I am very pleased with. Not decorated like yours, but there was at one time a single brass stud now missing. |
Hi Tim,I cant go for the throwing idea way to heavy it could be for showing of "call that a club " type thing or for executions, may be wide of the mark with that idea.

Where was the stud Tim ?

Not convinced about throwing clubs but here are two that could fall into that category .They have large heads showing what a monster the large one is.Thanks for your imput guys.

Lew that is the very one I had. In the link I said 10cm diameter which I believe is wrong, I made a mistake. Interesting how things travel. I bought it is a junk shop in Warwick, it then went to Sussex south coast and I believe the seller with the orange background pictures is based in Nottingham?

graeme,
This is the best I can do. You can see that the hole is not an insect hole. There is on ring in the wood from the head of the stud which is often seen by not always. Anybody got a spare old stud like that seen on graeme's club? |

Just remembered I have dozens of studs on a broken staff, they do not stick out as far as the ones on graeme's. No harm done just placed in the hole.
