ID on sword request

Hi everyone,
I am grateful for information about this, for me, unknown sabre. Total length 79cm. length of the blade 65cm. Ray skin grip. On the sheat it is marked with "No 38" . Especially "No" is a Dutch term to indicate a number (in this case 38). No other marks present unfortunately. The pommel however looks British to me but I could be wrong. Someone who might recognize it? |
Mid-Victorian prison guards, police, customs.

Just by the way, "no" is an abbreviation of "numero" (from Latin 'numerus') and is used in many, probably most, European languages not only Dutch to indicate 'number'. Apologies if that is a bit pedantic.
