A gunong with a hexagonal hilt
Hello friends, it's Gunong Steve :)
First, thanks to 2 forum friends who pointed this piece out to me on ebay. :) I let it slip by once, but bid the 2nd go-round when it didn't sell. It's a tiny little thing, 7" long overall with a 4 1/8" blade. The blade is monosteel, and has a nice shape. The hilt is horn, and is hexagonal in shape. That's the most unusual aspect of this piece. I have many gunong, and all but this one have an oval cross section in the hilt. Thank you for any comments you wish to make. Hello Steve, I am very happy to see that it was you that won this great though small Gunong . After the first time around and you didn't bid I almost bid on it myself the second time. Now I'm glad that I didn't.:D An extremely interesting hilt. Congratulations.

Hi Steve........or should I call you "Tito Gunong"?.............
Anyway this is an interesting little piece. Not seen one like this before. You always come up with the most interesting gunongs! Have you etched this yet? |
Thanks Robert, It was just meant to be. :)
Jose, my friend, Yes I etched it. Monosteel, but hardened well. Tito Gunong. I like that. :D Steve |
In Tagalog it means "Uncle Gunong". :D
