Just got this from another forumite. Scabbard has "1890" and "Burmah" carved into it.
Overall length is 33", Blade is 21" long and almost 1/2" thick. Great balance. Curous that one side has different markings than the other side. See blade tip pictures. This may have been presented already on the Forum |
A very nice one to start your dha fever with. It looks well made

Looks a bit touristy to me . Only joking, I like the way the blade ends.

Hi Bill
I did a little research on Kalemyo 1890 (A small town in Burma). It seems there was some type of small war fought between the British and the Zomi or Chin peoples between 1888-1890 in that region of Burma. So my guess is the sword was either a battle field pick up from that war or a surrendered sword from a ranking officer. Here is a link you can look at. http://www.lairoham.de/Facts%20about%20Chin.htm Lew |
Thank you twice Lew! The info is very much appreciated.
I have entered the data in DataTracker collection software. I do like this program, so far. Put in my pictures, the map you supplied and the article / link. |
