Picked this up on ebay:

I have never seen one this size. What do you all think?

Look good and authentic, have seen this also. Let's wait what the experts think about it.

It is enormous! I held this in hand before at Jimmy Manteris' table. A later piece, perhaps 1950s?

I am going to agree with Jose on this, definately a later piece.

Like Jose, I also held this behemoth at the gun show and it is the longest sword of this handle type and period I have ever seen. Good solid heavy blade so I think the buyer should be pleased with it.

I do not know enough to date it so I will defer to Jose. I have several others of this blade, guard and handle style. They are similar to the point they could have been made by the same person. Like you all noticed the only difference is this one is HUGE. It is the length of a KP although much lighter and therefore faster. I saw it and had to get it just for the uniqueness of the size. It is very well made with a distal taper. The blade has a slight bend near the tip that can be easily straitened. All in all I was very pleased. Has anyone ever encounter this type at this length before?

If I can find it, I will post the picture, but I remember reading either this forum or another one that had a post regarding an arnisador who preferred using a longer length (30+ inches) when fighting.

As someone who practices Arnis and Silat I can't imagine using a blade that long. I'd love to try though. :D

I would very much like to see that. I was experimenting myself with it and its normal size brother. It would make a very formidable set, very similar to a rapier and dagger. I was trying to use the crossada in the Espada “Y” Daga (it’s also very possible I mangled the terminology as it has been years) style though I am way out of practice, and I do not know rapier and dagger.

I think I have seen the picture, it was Leo Giron, and I believe there is footage of one of his son demoing its use. I think the total length was 3 feet (36").
