Syrian dagger?

Having seen a couple of threads here about Syrian and Druze weapons I thought I would post a dagger of mine for comment. I bought it thinking it a varient on the Moroccan Koumiya, but now think it more likely Syrian due to the shape of the hilt and blade, and the copper alloy inlays and stamps on the blade.
Unusualy plain grip though to my thinking, feels like a hardwood covered in a black paint or resin and a longer blade than I have seen on such before...blade length 8.5 inches, 21.5 cm.
Please pardon the poor quality of the pics....having camera problems again.

I have a good enough camera for most stuff......but the cat bit through the download cable and I have to get a new one. These are old pics taken last year while I was still learning how best to take them!

I did wonder,... which of course is why I posted it here to get some input from those more knowledgable.
I did have a typical Syrian dagger some time ago, with the inlaid grip and the short blade, but sold it on. With the above weapon it was the hilt profile, repouse sheath and the blade inlays which made me wonder if this was a variation of the Syrian type. I am perfectly happy for it to be Turkish! It will go nicely with my Yataghan.
