A mis-matched keris.

This just ended. The blade and sheath is not matching.

Hilt is an old Yogyakarta-styled ukiran.
Blade is Javanese. Looks like an old Pandawa Luk 5 blade.
The sheath is Sulawesi-styled. Nice upper sheath made of kemuning wood with nice grains. The bottom sheath, the lower black area, looks original to the sheath. The lizard skin however is not natural in both Sulawesi or Javanese cultures, afaik.

Separately, they make quite a collectible item (minus the lizard skin).

I was watching this one too and almost bid on it for the blade alone, though i would have liked to pay less considering the mismatch. Looks like a nice old Javanese blade. Has anyone ever seen a lizaed skin wrap on a keris sheath before?

Nechesh, if it was say half the price, I might consider... Then maybe you can have the blade and I take the sheath, at 60:40 ratio. ;)

However, why it is covered with lizard skin remains? Was it to increase value? To hide a damaged/defect portion?...
