bobi13,
How did you come up with the date of 1231 Hijri (1816 Gregorian)? Ian |
I made restoration the rifle 2019 year, but these rifles are did mading 18-19 century. Тherefore i em made this year.

Hello bobi13. Welcome to the Forum.
That is a wonderful looking Boyliya. It's the one style I don't have in my collection. If the only original pieces are the lock, barrel, and it appears the trigger, you have done an incredible job duplicating the wood stock profile and metal fittings. The barrel bands, other brass/pearl decoration look very well done, and in the traditional manner. And the lock looks like it cleaned up perfectly. Looks like all you need is a iron ramrod. A question: Where did you locate the small, round, brass starburst inserts ? I have been trying to locate those for years. As mentioned above, if you have any photos of the gun before restoration, please post them. As well, some additional details of the restoration. Again, congratulations on a wonderful restoration. Rick |
Wow, congrats, you can be proud of your work!
But sorry, I wouldn't call it restoration, it's a new one with partly antique pieces. Regards, Detlef |

They may be called knife handle Mosaic Pins or nails on your search engine. Lots of different designs available.
|
I am impressed! Great work!
I will have to agree with Sajen though on the new piece with antique parts. If most of were antique then that would be different. Still great work! |
Do you also happen to make Yatagans as well? It might be you that I know from FB. and you made some amazing looking Yatagan! You are from Bulgaria correct?

If the barrel is in sufficient and safe condition, do you plan on shooting this gun? With a brand-new stock, you don't have to worry about recoil causing strain on old wood, or dislodging loose inlays! |
The reconstruction is stunning. Discussion about limit of such could be long but pointless. One could easily mention contemporary Monte Cassino or some 1000 year Old japanese temples...
Well, it is ethnographic arms forum, so for me it is good news to see old (ethno)skill of ottoman linked kathamkali/sadeli work had not vanish. I suppose some ancient Guns and yathagans could benefit If those pins would be available on market. Myself had looked for any data about them for pretty long time and in vain. How do you make those pins? Brass and tar? Wood? Epoxy? |
I made those pins from bronze and buffalo horn.
|
Can i have some technical questions? And maeby not to bother the other forumites, on personal mail?
Mine is grendolino@wp.pl. Thanks |
Excellent work, fantastic craftsmanship, Borislav!

I was doing some small restorations as well and knows how much effort it costs. By any chance can you share what do you use to make red ornaments on mother of pearl ? |
Wonderful!! Work with mother of pearl is not the easiest thing on the hands and time consuming.
|
Outstanding job. Congratulations !! Are you able to shoot black powder, muzzle loading guns in Bulgaria ?
