I know nothing about firearms, so no professional counterargument from me.
Although, if “ .. the steel extension part (was) re-purposed to make a fire-striker”, then in its current version it became a fire-striker. Like a broken sword re-purposed to make a dagger becomes a dagger. No?

My guess is its a trigger from a torador, with the steel extension part re-purposed to make a fire-striker.

100% right it is a trigger, and I can prove it but I need to scan the page of the book where the piece is coming from.

Not from a torador but from a Persian matchlock.

Right again about the sword becoming a dagger

The problem is that you cannot prove, and nobody can prove, that the trigger was reused as a fire-striker...

It could have been reused as a fishing hook
